Large-Span Suspended Multi-Point Crane Solutions

Where the building structure has the required verified load-bearing capacity, EUROHOIST multi-support underslung cranes travel on runways supported by the roof structure, with the main girder below the runway; separate floor-mounted runway columns can be reduced. They are particularly suitable for large-span buildings, low-headroom hangars, and aviation manufacturing scenarios with particularly extensive overhead material-handling coverage. The overall span can be customized to exceed 100 meters, and the hook can serve all areas of the entire factory building, helping customers achieve safer and more efficient overall logistics with less civil construction investment.

Why large-span factories choose suspended multi-point cranes

When factory width far exceeds conventional single-span range, or roof headroom is limited and it is not suitable to add ground runway beams, suspended multi-point cranes become a more economical aerial logistics solution. The crane is directly suspended on roof structure rails and can be positioned in the center of assembly areas without occupying ground passages. With side-suspended telescopic beams, the hoist and load travel range can extend beyond the rail line, significantly expanding the service area.

Large span · Full coverage

For typical large-span buildings such as aircraft hangars and aviation manufacturing facilities, the hook of EUROHOIST multi-point suspended cranes can reach every workstation within factories with spans exceeding 100 meters (approximately 300 feet), connecting assembly, inspection, and cross-span handling processes.

Suspended · More space-saving

The main girder is located below the track and runs along roof rails, eliminating the need for traditional runway beams, effectively improving headroom utilization, allowing the crane to be suspended in the center of large assembly areas without obstructing workshop logistics and personnel passage.

Multi-support point · Smoother operation

Single-girder or double-girder cranes are suspended on 3 or more I-beam tracks. The end carriage pin-shaft connection prevents statically indeterminate conditions, while horizontal guide wheels work in coordination with a closed-loop long-travel VFD to ensure multiple long-travel units run synchronously and smoothly.

Core technical advantages

The suspended multi-support point system is not merely about "making the crane bigger," but a systems engineering effort integrating structural mechanics, motion control, process interfacing, and safety redundancy. EUROHOIST deeply combines European hoisting technology with large-span suspended structures to meet the cycle times and safety standards of demanding industries such as aviation.

Interlocked cross-bay transfer · Uninterrupted efficiency

Multiple cranes operate in an interlocked manner, enabling sensitive components to be transferred directly between two adjacent bays without setting down the load midway, saving time and reducing the risk of damage. WiFi signal alignment is supported for cross-bay transfer, ensuring precise docking and safe, reliable processes.

High-speed operation · Precise positioning

For long-distance hangars, high hoisting speeds (standard hoists can reach 15 m/min) and high long-travel speeds (up to 100–120 m/min) are available; inching speed is used for precise positioning. The displacement measurement system for each axis can store up to 1000 positions, enabling extremely precise positioning.

Automation · Electronic anti-sway

Semi-automatic and fully automatic cranes use PLC control to shorten work cycles. Target positioning reduces inefficient manual operation, while an electronic anti-sway system controls load sway. Each motion axis of a process crane can be configured for fully automatic control and integrated with an in-house warehouse management system to manage material flow.

Safety redundancy · Full-process controllability

Zone restrictions and protected areas, closed-loop hoisting synchronization control (encoder), standard electronic overload limiter and load spectrum recording, motor overheating protection, and soft start/soft stop provide multiple safeguards for personnel, machinery, and equipment safety.

Typical application industries

Suspended multi-support point cranes are widely used in fields with stringent requirements for span, headroom, handling cycle times, and continuity of overhead logistics. For standard workshops of 40 meters or less, single-span overhead cranes can be used; for large workshops such as aviation manufacturing, hangars, and shipbuilding, multi-support point suspended cranes with spans exceeding 100 meters are commonly adopted.

Aviation manufacturing and maintenance

Used for aircraft component assembly, fuselage section lifting, and complete fuselage transport, linking the overhead handling systems of each assembly stage. The more closely the design aligns with the process, the more noticeably production costs are reduced.

Shipbuilding and rail transit

Adapted to large-span, high-bay workshops such as shipyards, final assembly shops, and railway vehicle manufacturing, completing cross-region lifting of large structural components, cabin sections, and equipment.

High-end equipment manufacturing

Serving manufacturing scenarios such as energy equipment, construction machinery, and steel structure assembly that require heavy tonnage, long spans, and multi-station coordinated operations.

Suspended multi-support point crane solutions

EUROHOIST can work with various European-style wire rope/electric chain hoists or manual chain hoists worldwide, providing single-girder and double-girder suspended configurations as well as multi-span, multi-support point customization. From component handling to full-line overhead logistics, solutions can be tailored to working conditions.

Large-span multi-support point suspended overhead crane

Suitable for ultra-large-span workshops such as aircraft hangars, aviation final assembly, and large logistics centers. Multiple long-travel units are suspended from roof guide rails, covering the entire span's working area in coordination, with strong lifting capacity and a structure optimized for long-span deflection and synchronized operation.

  • Single-girder / double-girder suspended, 3 or more support points
  • Overall span customizable beyond 100 meters
  • Closed-loop long-travel VFD, suppressing skewing effects
  • Working class up to M8 (CMAA Class F) and other high-demand configurations

Multi-span interlocking and cross-bay transfer system

For the transfer of sensitive components between adjacent assembly workshops and multi-span workshops, multiple suspended cranes operate in an interlocked manner to achieve direct cross-bay delivery and reduce ground re-handling, minimizing damage risk and cycle time loss.

  • Interlocking between cranes, direct cross-bay transfer between adjacent bays
  • WiFi-aligned cross-bay transfer, precise docking at workstations
  • Synchronized lifting with dual hoisting points and above, anti-slip
  • Supports integration of semi-automatic or fully automatic operation and anti-sway control

Special configurations: rotation, side suspension and custom lifting attachments

In addition to standard multi-point suspension, it can also integrate 360° rotary lifting, side-suspension telescopic beams, visual recognition, custom lifting attachments and special working condition configurations, meeting "no compromise" customization needs.

  • Side-suspension beams extend the hoist service area beyond the rail line
  • Extended types such as multi-point rotary hoists and integrated processing cranes
  • Special lifting capacity can reach 250 t SWL class solutions
  • Paired with European-style hoists for gentle handling and positioning in line with production-cycle requirements

Aviation industry solution highlights

In the aviation industry, EUROHOIST suspension cranes play a key role in aircraft factory component handling—used both in component manufacturing processes and for lifting components and even complete fuselages within the workshop, reliably connecting production links between adjacent assembly workshops.
